"I believe in Sikkim. It is a great state with a wonderful heritage. The Sikkimese people are a great people who have with them history and tradition.

I want Sikkim to be one state with shared values and purpose, where merit comes before privilege, run for the many and not the few, strong and sure of itself and its purpose.

I believe that Sikkim can and must be made better.

I want a Sikkim that is strong, vibrant , safe and strides with strength into the new millennium with confidence.

I want to renew our State's faith in the ability of its government and politics to deliver this new and happy Sikkim"
